Adding Some of Kathleen's Photos to Web Site

I just finished scanning a few of Kathleen's beautiful slides and added them to the web site at photo1unlimited.com.  We will be adding more of Kathleen's work as I have time to do more scanning and selecting frame from her digital efforts.  Here are a couple of teaser shot to give you a flavor of her artistic skills.  The first is a photo of a group of cottonwood trees at the Colorado Great Sanddunes.

The second photo is a beautiful shot of the Great Teton mountains framed with an old pine tree.

Come on over to our web site to see additional examples of Kathleen's work.  I have also added a few more of my photos to the site.  If the weather cooperates, we have a few trips planned for after the first of the year that will provide more photographic opportunities.  We will blog the results of these trips.

Check back often and see what's cooking in the Douglas Darkroom.

The photo1unlimited.com web site is on-line and live

The photography unlimited web site is up and running.  Kathleen and I have uploaded about 60 photographs and are busy scanning additional slides and negatives from our archives from over 40 years of work. The photo above is of a Pasque flower with an ant visitor getting covered with pollen.  We have added categories for different subject area and include landscape, wildlife, flowers and nature, monochrome, and miscellaneous.
We have also added a contact-us section where you can leave us an email message and let us know what you think about the new site.  There is also a cart section where you can purchase our work as a 11X14 custom art print.  We are standardizing on this size as a start, however other sizes will be available in the future, both larger and smaller.
Please stop by and have look and email us your thoughts.

Regards, Larry and Kathleen Douglas

Aunt Anna Mae's 99th Birthday

My mother's older sister, Anna Mae Hairston, had her 99th birthday on November 16th, 2010.  The Denver family had a party for Aunt Mae on November 20th that was attended by between 40 and 50 people.  It was a grand occasion and enjoyed by all.  There was lots of food and the house was filled with love and fellowship.  I said the prayer before the official start of the meal (although, several of the participants had already jumped the gun on the food).  The Gamble family is not bashful when it come to food!

Aunt Mae received a lot of gifts, cards and flowers.   She received an outstanding orchid plant from her nephew Harry from Los Angeles.  She had a beautiful white cake and we all joined in to sing happy birthday on the presentation of the cake.

Aunt Mae was in good spirits and greeted each guest as they arrived.  I took about 70 to 80 photographs and will put them in a book for Aunt Mae.  This is something that I have been doing since her 92nd birthday.

We are all looking forward to next year and Aunt Mae's 100th birthday and gala celebration with people coming in from several states, in addition to all the local relatives and friends.

Starting a New Photography Web Site

Kathleen and I have just started to construct a new photography web site to display our photographs.  We are using the Joomla software and have the site in rough form.  We will be adding content and photos over the next 2 weeks and should be ready to launch the site before Christmas.  Joomla is a very powerful software (and open source), but not plug and play ;O).  Here is a sneak preview of one of the photos on the site.
We plan to use this blog to keep a journal of our photo excursions and other activities over the next year.  I hope you enjoy these posts and your comments are always welcome.
